And Speaking Of Old and Busted...

We haven't had internet access at The Estate since at least 3 am this morning. The whole cable system went down around 7 pm last night, as previously mentioned, but we got sporadic service back around 11 pm. I went to bed at midnight, woke up three hours later, and tried to use the computer.

But there was no internet, and it's been that way ever since. The tv is working fine, but we're getting no signal to the modem. I can't figure out why, and I can't call Cox because my name isn't on the account, so they refuse to even acknowledge that there is a problem unless the accountholder calls in a complaint. So who knows when I'll be able to use the internet from home again. I left a note for my roommate, and he's usually pretty good about getting stuff fixed when he's around, but he just hasn't been around much lately.

I'm currently blogging from a very noisy internet 'cafe' across the street from the UNLV campus that I utilized last year before I got the cable modem. It's full of World of Warcraft geeks and anime pervs who think tentacle porn cartoons are the coolest thing going, so it's a little annoying to be here. And I don't own a sword, so I really don't fit in with this crowd. But I had to check the mail and such, and since I paid for two hours worth of time, I figured I should let everyone know why blogging may be light for the next couple of days. (I still have to move my computer anyways--it's still in the 'greenhouse' room) .

Also, I want to thank everyone for their generosity with the tip jar--there have been a few donations that caught me by surprise, and I want everyone to know that it's appreciated. Amazon does an *excellent* job of protecting your privacy, so I have no idea who the donors are. But I thank you all!

In the meantime, it's back to work tonight for another five days of casino action. But I have something to look forward to. By the time my next day off rolls around, I'll be on my way to Phoenix.
