Easy Like Sunday Mornin'

After my three-shots-of-happy martini late last night early this morning, I went to bed and slept like a baby. And I gotta say, it sure tasted a lot better than sleeping pills and tap water. But I woke up around 11:00 or so, and not quite motivated enough to tackle the rest of the desk-cleaning project, I decided to make myself a pot of coffee and sit down at the computer.

Instead of my regular hazelnut coffee, I treated myself to a Bailey's and coffee (plain old Folger's--most boozes don't go well with Don Francisco's. Years of experimentation has taught me this). Not that I planned on it, but the bottle of Bailey's was just sitting there next to the coffee maker with those come-hither eyes, so I decided to pretend I was having brunch, minus the food and the champagne. And I wanted to use my new Spam mug, too.

Anyhow--it's been a nice relaxing day so far, sitting at the 'kitchen table', surfin' the net, enjoying the slight breeze coming through the screen door. It's a beautiful day here in Vegas land, and the Wind Gods finally decided to give us a break while they unleashed their wrath on Arkansas, instead.

Oh, and I wanted to mention--that picture of the messy desk from yesterday's post is *not* from my room. First of all, I use a laptop, not a desktop. Second of all, I can't remember the last time I drank Coke from a can, so those aren't mine. And third of all, Rob will attest that I never use headphones, either. Heh. The picture is just one of the hundreds of trophies I have on file that I've collected whenever I've gone on a Google Image Search safari, that I try to use at appropriate times. I'll finish cleaning my desk either this afternoon or tomorrow, and post a real picture of it, maybe on Tuesday.

I'm also working on a nice casino-centric bile-filled rant that I've already titled 'The Dirty Baker's Dozen', where I describe the 13 biggest jerkoffs that I have to deal to every night. But I think that is more of a 'weekend' post, also, unless I just get a shiatload of free time on my hands tomorrow.

Also, I forgot to mention the latest reason why it's good to be Hurricane Mikey. All this talk of Bacon Salt as of late seems to be paying dividends. The guys that own the company keep their feelers out on the internet and seem to appreciate the free pub I've given them this week, so they sent me an email thanking me for the write-up and asking for my shipping address. Apparently, they want to send me some goodies! I immediately wrote them back, and they told me that a shipment will be going out tomorrow morning. Woo Hoo!

And by the way, I've tried the Bacon Salt twice now--I managed to find one lone bag of microwave popcorn in the back of the cupboard, so I tried that first. I think I overdid it though--there is already salt in the popcorn, and I put too much of the bacon salt in, too. It's easy to do, it smells soooo good. So next time, I'll get unsalted popcorn and go a little easier on the seasoning. But I also made a breakfast burrito yesterday out of a Jimmy Dean ham skillet pack, and with just a touch of the bacon salt, it really made it so much better.

So fairly soon, I may be up to my arse in Bacon Salt. But, just like ranch dressing, I'm finding that it goes pretty well on just about everything.

Also, there will probably be some good food-bloggin' coming up this next week. Checking the calendar, Dave P, Habanaman, and Lisa Lisa The One I Adore are all coming to visit and have graciously invited me to join them for a few meals.

Dave P and I are going to Grimaldi's for lunch on Wednesday. You already know my thoughts about that place, but Dave is a Grimaldi's virgin, so I'll try to be gentle. But he's from Connecticut, and I may have to steer him away from the white pizza. Although, I don't think clams are on the topping menu, anyways.

Habanaman and I are going to knock Firefly off of the must-try list on Wednesday night, followed by an evening of cigars and cocktails. I've heard nothing but good things about that place (the dorks from Chowhound excepted), and I've been wanting to go there forever. So Wednesday should be a pretty good day--good food and good company.

I'm taking a couple of my must-use floater days away from the casino on Friday and Saturday when Lisa Lisa comes to town, and on Saturday night, we're heading over to N9NE steakhouse at the Palms. Ain't never been there, they tell me it's nice.

So between the visits, the good food, and all the other stuff going on, I should have some pretty good content over the course of the next week to keep everyone entertained. Because I'm a giver. I'm here to serve YOU, my faithful readers.

Later,

Mikey
