Tuesday Morning Quickie

Howdy all! I just got home from work, and I'm killin' time before I go down and cancel out a hippie's vote, so I thought I'd post a quick update.

I was snoozin' last night around midnight, when the phone rang, and there were a couple of games going on down at the poker room that looked like they'd go all night. So I gladly picked up a shift.

Driving in, I was sitting at the stoplight about a half-mile from the casino, and across the intersection, I saw a familiar-looking SUV with a hot blonde at the wheel. Yep, it was Beth--she even had her window down (she's a smoker) so I could easily see her. So I honked and waved. Once she recognized my front license plate, she waved back. But then the light turned green and I passed on by. When I got to work and parked my truck, I saw Kimmy's car sitting there--she was still at work, but I knew she'd be leaving very soon, so I hoped I'd run into her, too.

As soon as I got off the elevator, I saw her walking towards me, looking as smoking hot as ever (I haven't even seen her in over two months). So she stopped to chat and we caught up for a few minutes, making me late. Oh well, it was worth it. The gal still makes me ache a little, though. But it was a nice way to kick off my workday.

Once I got to the poker room, there were two pretty good games going, and they looked like they'd go all night. But by 3:30 this morning, one guy had completely wiped out the no-limit game, so all that we had left was a full 4-8 game. The money was decent, so I was glad to be there, but then the Bad Beat Jackpot hit again! That's good and bad. I didn't deal it, and it didn't even hit at our casino, so I had no chance of having another thousand dollar day. But then the game loosened up quite a bit--the pots got huge because everyone knew they were about to get several hundred dollars in jackpot money.

It took about an hour to get the paperwork done and figure the payouts, but in addition to my regular tokes, I pulled in a decent staff share, too. But the problem was, as soon as everyone got paid, the game pretty much broke up after that. So by 5:00 am, the poker room was completely dead and both me and the other dealer got sent home--no use sitting around waiting for the old farts to show up in the morning, because there was another dealer scheduled at 7:00 am anyways.

So even though I didn't pick up a full shift, I made enough in the four hours that I was there that it felt like a full shift. I'll take that every time!

Anyhow, I bailed out, stopped at the gas station and filled up my truck with some tasty $2.59-per-gallon gas, which is just thirteen cents more per gallon than I paid on the day I arrived here almost four years ago. (The only reason I know this is because I had a U-haul truck, and then a rental car, and I kept detailed records of all my moving expenses). I can live with that. Not wanting coffee, I opted for a fountain coke and a blueberry muffin from the attached convenience store and came on home. I'm avoiding the news until tonight, but I have no idea what I'm going to do once I get home from my local polling place. Maybe go to bed and try to sleep for awhile.

Anyhow, that's been my day so far... I'll probably post some more stuff later.

Mikey
