Doing My Part To Stimulate The Economy

I just got home a little while ago, and it's time for bed. I'm not quite used to this graveyard shift, especially when I've got some swing shift hours tossed in the mix, but I know that I'm tired, still a little under the weather, and I need the rest.

But this morning after I made that previous post, I headed out for awhile. I dropped the truck payment in the mailbox, went down to the bank to launder deposit a small bundle of unmarked bills, and then did some shopping. I first stopped at the men's store to buy fun stuff like socks and underwear (can never have too much), and I was tempted to pick up a pair of flannel sweat pants. They looked comfy and warm, especially this week. But I opted not to buy 'em. Maybe next time.

After that, I went over to the big WalMart Supercenter over on Sunset and 95. Man, what a zoo. And I purposely do my shopping on weekdays just to avoid the crowds, but the place was crowded. Bad economy? Man, you wouldn't know it by visiting the Walmart today. I guess people are still buying the essentials and such, but just not spending any money in the casinos right now.

Anyhow, I spent about $140 on toiletries and cleaning supplies, plus I stocked up and got three bottles of Peppermint Mocha coffee creamer, along with two cans of Don Francisco's finest. When I left the house, the plan was to go out to lunch, but then with perishables, that idea went out the window. Plus my cough came back, so when I finished my shopping, I didn't feel like eating anyways.

Once I got home, I put my purchases away, grabbed a bottle of Gatorade, and came upstairs to relax. About 15 minutes later, my phone was ringing. It was Lars--he was just up the block at the local pizza joint and said he could see my truck parked out in front of the house. So I told him to look in at the upstairs window where I offered up my one-fingered salute. He laughed, but said that he had ordered a couple of baskets of wings and had to get back inside. A few minutes later, I walked up there and joined him, 'cause hot wings is good for what ails ya!

We had an enjoyable visit over lunch, and we're planning on having a nice steak dinner later on this week--depending on whether or not I'm feeling any better. Right now my taste buds are somewhat worthless, although hot wings seem to taste good, in addition to clearing my sinuses and giving me a brief endorphin rush. But I don't wanna cough up fifty bucks for a steak dinner if I can't taste it. So it's a tentative plan at this point.

Other than that, there's not much else going on in the life of Mikey.

It's time for me to go to bed though. I've got a long night ahead of me.

Mikey
