The Madness

Woo Hoo! It's finally my 'weekend', and believe me, I am sooooo happy that it's finally here. And yes, I skated out of work two hours early last night, too. My tables were still busy, but since I put my name on the early-out list, they cut me loose once a couple of dice and blackjack tables closed down and they had to put the extra dealers somewhere.

One thing I haven't had the chance to do yet is fill out my brackets. Normally that's been done the first thing Monday morning of every tournament week since the beginning of time. However, my printer went Tango Uniform on me during the last move, and now only prints in light red, if at all. And that really pisses me off because I'd spent a fortune on new ink cartridges, too. And since I no longer work in an office with a computer and printer at my disposal, here it is less than 48 hours before tipoff and I still don't have a bracket! I could've walked over to the sports book and got one last night before I left work, but in my haste to begin my weekend, I completely forgot about it.

All I'm sure of, is that in years past, Winthrop usually never covered the spread--I've been following their tournament life since 1996 because I had an old girlfriend who taught English there. Anyhow, I used to bet on them every year, and of course they usually drew Duke in the first round and were a 40+ point underdog. And they NEVER covered--at least all the times I bet on them. Duke always stomped 'em into the ground with no mercy. But I believe this is the year that it changes, because they're playing Tennessee in the first round, and Tennessee has absolutely no business being a number two seed.

I'm sure that sometime within the next day or so I'll find myself near a casino/sports book and grab a blank bracket. Once it's filled out I'll share a couple of picks and my thoughts with everyone.

Anyhow, it's only about 11am and I just got up--Once I got home last night I stayed up watching the latest episode of 24 before going to bed. I think I'll post comments about that and also about the season premiere of The Sopranos later today. So those of you 'behind' in your viewing, if you don't want to know about any plot details from either show, don't come back here until you catch up.
