Almost Like I Live Here

Howdy all!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Tuesday afternoon/evening. Again, I apologize for the late posting--I hate this morning shift, but when you gotta leave the house at 4:15 in the blessed AM, there's not much you can do about it.

Yep, my last two shifts were at 5:00 am, and today absolutely sucked. I sat on my ass until 7:30, doing nothing but listening to the dual-rate floor guy bitch about how nobody in Vegas runs a proper poker tournament. Yes, I was in hell.

The game finally got going but another dealer came in at 8:00, so it was half-on/half-off for the rest of my morning, and I didn't earn very much scratch, either. But the boss said she fixed my schedule for next week--only two morning shifts and I've got a weekend swing shift, too, so I'll be able to make some better money next week.

Since we had four more dealers coming in at 11:00 for the daily tournament, that's when I got cut loose. But the tourney didn't have much in the way of interest, only filling up one table, so I bought in to kind of spur the action and maybe help my co-workers earn a little more cash. But I was no help--I got knocked out in ninth place when my pocket Kings ran into pocket Aces. I guess it's Karmic payback for last week at the Mirage when I had the same hand and knocked out the chick who was holding the Aces when I flopped a set of cowboys.

Oh well. That's three daily tourneys at work I've gotten into since I've been there, and not once have I cashed. Apparently, I can't win tourneys at the room I work in. So I guess I'm gonna stop doing them for awhile. But tomorrow is another day. I'm scheduled to get out at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, and checking the Binion's website, I see that they have the last of their $150 Classic tourneys going on, kicking off an hour after I punch out of work. So yeah, I think I'm gonna go down and try again, maybe see if I can't go 3-for-4 in cashes.

And as much as I ranted about their stupid scheduling for the Casino Employee's event this weekend, I actually have the day off, believe it or not, so I'm gonna go play in that one, too. If -- and it's a BIG if -- I actually make a four-digit payday in one of these two tourneys, I may cough up the $500 and play in the WSOP Casino Employees tourney that starts on Monday afternoon. If not, well, there's always next year. But it's a cheap way to try and get a bracelet. I'm also going to try and play in some of the WPT satellite events this October and December down at Bellagio, but that's a ways off.

But the big event that everyone is looking forward to is the private T2V tourney on PokerStars on Thursday night. I look forward to taking another shot at Dougie's, Doc's, Sticky's, and Terry's bankroll--March seems like so long ago.

Once I got home from work, I was pretty tired, and tried to catch a nap. I finally got the thermostat upstairs reprogrammed to kick on the AC in the afternoon (yesterday's nap was a nasty sweatfest that reminded me of living back at the shiatty old Ruben's House), so today was much more comfy. But the dogs, as adorable as they are, follow me up here and do weird shiat like lick my feet when I'm trying to sleep. It's quite startling when you're dozing off. But they don't stay up here too long--It's much more cool for them to lie down on the tile down in the kitchen and dining room instead of at the foot of my bed.

Anyhow, that's about all that's going on around here. I'm going to spend the balance of my evening working in my bedroom trying to get it uncluttered and also spend some time hooking up all the rest of my electronics. But I don't know how well that's gonna go--it took me until this afternoon how to figure out how to use the remote for the ceiling fan and light in my bedroom. Yeah, it's got a dimmer and everything, so maybe if I find me some wacky red-headed hippie chick type who falls for my bullshiat again, well, mood lighting won't be an issue...
